Oddworld Wiki

Hi! Welcome to the Oddworld Fandom Wiki!

Recently OWI has began to publish posts on their Twitter citing articles from this site, along with content that heavily implies that the wiki is in some way official or sanctioned.

We'd like to dispel this rumor now: The Fandom Wiki is 100% community run and has in fact been long plagued by information of dubious validity, despite the valiant efforts of its editors (whose job we really appreciate, keep up the good fight!). For this reason, we'd like to ask our readers to take everything here with a great chunk of salt, especially when it comes to content without valid citations.

If you wish to fight against misinformation, you're encouraged to contribute high-quality content to the wiki—that is content that's propped up by a trusted source (examples include: Oddworld.com, Magog on the March, or The Oddworld Library) and contain no headcanons, theorizing, or any further content not directly coming from Oddworld Inhabitants.

Thank you for your attention and understanding! Happy reading and editing!

Interns are to Vykkers what Sligs are to Glukkons; a slave race bred to do their master's bidding. They do all the dirty work for the Vykkers, all the while drowning out all unwanted noises with the latest beats pumping into their heads via headphones.

Interns serve as secondary antagonists in Munch's Oddysee.

Biology[]

Like the Vykkers, their heads are abnormally large compared to the rest of their bodies. Unlike Vykkers, however,Interns are bipedal and have only two arms with five fingers and no thumbs, and considerably more muscle mass. They also have vertically-aligned mouths, that were stitched shut by their Vykker masters to keep them from constantly whistling to the sound of their annoying music. Interns are the subservient species to the Vykkers, filling menial administrative tasks such as filing, porting, and checking up on experiments. The also act as the security force in Vykkers’ facilities, equipped with the latest consumer goods weaponry.

Interns are loyal lackeys, highly supportive of Vykkers’ work despite the skanky conditions of their servitude, and are every bit as sadistic in their scientific methodology. They are incredibly contemptible and frequently share their dismay at the philosophy or behaviour of other cultures with one another. They are entirely concerned with their own culture, and spend their spare time hunkering for the latest in fashion swimwear and designer pharmaceuticals or listening to their beloved punk rock and techno grooves. Interns steal from Vykkers’ drugs cabinets, pepping themselves up with pilfered pharmaceuticals.

Physiology[]

Interns have long canoe-like heads, along which runs a vertical slit of a mouth only ever seen stitched up—they are surgically prevented from whistling while they work. They have two small, prehensile horns which are used to express feelings. Their spindly arms end with five long spidery fingers that pack a mean slap, and their feet normally appear to be stitched-up stumps. Due to their long working shifts, most Interns have succumbed to Melted Candle Syndrome. Interns usually adorn themselves with trendy purple and yellow-striped speedos, with matching reversed baseball caps and their excessively loud headphones
