Oddworld Wiki

Hi! Welcome to the Oddworld Fandom Wiki!

Recently OWI has began to publish posts on their Twitter citing articles from this site, along with content that heavily implies that the wiki is in some way official or sanctioned.

We'd like to dispel this rumor now: The Fandom Wiki is 100% community run and has in fact been long plagued by information of dubious validity, despite the valiant efforts of its editors (whose job we really appreciate, keep up the good fight!). For this reason, we'd like to ask our readers to take everything here with a great chunk of salt, especially when it comes to content without valid citations.

If you wish to fight against misinformation, you're encouraged to contribute high-quality content to the wiki—that is content that's propped up by a trusted source (examples include: Oddworld.com, Magog on the March, or The Oddworld Library) and contain no headcanons, theorizing, or any further content not directly coming from Oddworld Inhabitants.

Thank you for your attention and understanding! Happy reading and editing!

A Meech is a creature that once roamed Oddworld as natural wildlife. They are assumed to be extinct after Rupture Farms hunted them down to produce Meech Munchies until they could not be found anymore. It's unknown if Meeches are truly extinct or just gone from Eastern Mudos.

History[]

What little concept art exists of Meeches shows them as having multiple jaws, tiny forearms, and two hind legs that could potentially make Meeches very fast. Meeches were brown and stood about 3·5–4 feet (1–1·2 m) tall on two three-toed legs. Red stripes ran across their armour-plated back, which had large spikes running down their spine.

Mudokons revered Meeches in the same way they do all wildlife, but it has been questioned whether they worship them in the same way they do Scrabs and Paramites. The environmental conditions required by Meeches were much more fragile than those of most creatures. Subsequently, Meeches were endemic to the immediate area of plains around which Rupture Farms was built, where they hunted Elums in huge packs. Their confined distribution ensured that the habitat loss and hunting of Meeches lead to the rapid decline in their population numbers and inevitable extinction.

Trivia[]

  • It was once rumoured that a population of Meeches was discovered atop a plateau, but the Glukkons immediately relocated them to one of their hunting preserves.
  • Alf’s friend Buddy lost huge amounts of weight on the South Meech Diet, but offered no proof that it was truly Meech he was eating. Alf has repeatedly tried to suggest that there may still be free Meeches.
  • No temple or tribe dedicated to Meeches has ever been explored, although Alf has admitted that had Meeches remained extant for Abe’s Temple Trials, he would have had to endure a third adventure in what the questioner named Meecharnia and the Meecharnian Temple; Alf later referred to ‘the Meechonian temple of the Mudmeechee lines’. This goes in line with the original idea for Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, where they would show up as additional wildlife next to Scrabs and Paramites having their own temple in a jungle region, but were cut from the game because there was not enough disk space available to include them.[1]
