Oddworld Wiki

Hi! Welcome to the Oddworld Fandom Wiki!

Recently OWI has began to publish posts on their Twitter citing articles from this site, along with content that heavily implies that the wiki is in some way official or sanctioned.

We'd like to dispel this rumor now: The Fandom Wiki is 100% community run and has in fact been long plagued by information of dubious validity, despite the valiant efforts of its editors (whose job we really appreciate, keep up the good fight!). For this reason, we'd like to ask our readers to take everything here with a great chunk of salt, especially when it comes to content without valid citations.

If you wish to fight against misinformation, you're encouraged to contribute high-quality content to the wiki—that is content that's propped up by a trusted source (examples include: Oddworld.com, Magog on the March, or The Oddworld Library) and contain no headcanons, theorizing, or any further content not directly coming from Oddworld Inhabitants.

Thank you for your attention and understanding! Happy reading and editing!

The chant suppressor (also known as the security orb) is a security and surveillance mechanism that are used in major industrial complexes such as RuptureFarms, Necrum Mines, as well as any other location controlled by the Industrialists. Chant suppressors are mainly harmless unless they detect chanting Mudokons that are in range of its sensors. If the device detects any form of chanting, it will zap the Mudokon on the spot with a red bolt of electricity.

Abe jumps a gap note the Claw type Chant Suppressors near him (from New 'n' Tasty)

Claw: These chant suppressors resemble the Galactic Empire's Probe Droids from Star Wars. If you use a chant, their blades will open up and zap you. Only found in RuptureFarms. In New 'N' Tasty, both the red dome on top and the photoreceptor eye light up if Abe is in their field of 'vision'.

Orbs: Big round orbs that will zap you the moment you chant. Found in Necrum MinesFree-Fire ZoneMonsaic LinesParamoniaScrabania, Mudanchee Vaults, and Mudomo Vaults.  In Munch’s Oddysee, these orbs have sensor prongs, while in New 'N' Tasty there is the addition of small induction coils and the photoreceptor eye lights up if Abe is in their field of 'vision'. In Oddworld: Soulstorm, these induction coils crackle with red electricity upon entering their range.
