Oddworld Wiki

Hi! Welcome to the Oddworld Fandom Wiki!

Recently OWI has began to publish posts on their Twitter citing articles from this site, along with content that heavily implies that the wiki is in some way official or sanctioned.

We'd like to dispel this rumor now: The Fandom Wiki is 100% community run and has in fact been long plagued by information of dubious validity, despite the valiant efforts of its editors (whose job we really appreciate, keep up the good fight!). For this reason, we'd like to ask our readers to take everything here with a great chunk of salt, especially when it comes to content without valid citations.

If you wish to fight against misinformation, you're encouraged to contribute high-quality content to the wiki—that is content that's propped up by a trusted source (examples include: Oddworld.com, Magog on the March, or The Oddworld Library) and contain no headcanons, theorizing, or any further content not directly coming from Oddworld Inhabitants.

Thank you for your attention and understanding! Happy reading and editing!

A Mudokon power that transforms the Mudokon into an avatar of Shrykull, a god of theirs. To be able to use this power, the Mudokon must have passed the trials of Paramonia and Scrabania, and have gotten their respective tattoos. In the games, Abe must save a certain amount of Mudokons to get the Shrykull Ring.

Appearance[]

In the PS1 games, the Shrykull Ring takes the form of a pulsing blue ring centred on Abe. The Bird Ring that Abe gets the power from Bird Portals which look like any other, except with a floating number inside a hashtag symbol inside it, signalling the minimum Mudokons needed to activate it. Once a greater or equal number of Mudokons are sent through the ring, birds will come from the portal and coalesce around Abe, while Abe's orbs that normally show up when he is possessing something also appear, but then coalesce into himself again. When used, Abe will morph into the Shrykull, and disperse blue lightning from its upper arms towards all dangerous entities, electrocuting them or blowing them up, depending on whether they are alive.

In New 'N' Tasty and Soulstorm, the Shrykull ring appears as a pulsing transparent ring, while Abe is covered in red lightning. This lightning acts like electricity in a plasma ball, and will flare up if near an appropriate place. The Bird Portal is tinged orange, but will still show the number. Once a greater or equal number of Mudokons are sent through the ring, red lightning bursts out of the portal, accompanied by birds, and fly towards Abe. When used, Abe screams in pain, before morphing into the Shrykull, which is now surrounded by an orange ring. Orange electricity disperses from the Shrykull's claws towards all dangerous entities, exploding them.

Usage[]

When used in the PS1 games, all obstacles on screen are electrocuted or activated. This includes Sligs, Slogs, Mines, Glukkons, and other types of enemies. Only one charge can be kept at a time.

When used in New 'N' Tasty, most local obstacles are exploded, including Sligs, Slogs, Mines and Glukkons. Multiple charges can be taken.

In Soulstorm, a Shrykull Ring is treated as an inventory item and used with the 'Throw' action instead of the 'Chant' action. It also only attacks enemies, and does not attack chant suppressors or bombs.
