Oddworld Wiki

Hi! Welcome to the Oddworld Fandom Wiki!

Recently OWI has began to publish posts on their Twitter citing articles from this site, along with content that heavily implies that the wiki is in some way official or sanctioned.

We'd like to dispel this rumor now: The Fandom Wiki is 100% community run and has in fact been long plagued by information of dubious validity, despite the valiant efforts of its editors (whose job we really appreciate, keep up the good fight!). For this reason, we'd like to ask our readers to take everything here with a great chunk of salt, especially when it comes to content without valid citations.

If you wish to fight against misinformation, you're encouraged to contribute high-quality content to the wiki—that is content that's propped up by a trusted source (examples include: Oddworld.com, Magog on the March, or The Oddworld Library) and contain no headcanons, theorizing, or any further content not directly coming from Oddworld Inhabitants.

Thank you for your attention and understanding! Happy reading and editing!

Oddworld munchs oddysee conceptart Tomawhawker

Tomahawkers are native Mudokons that have been given a weapon to bludgeon enemies with.

The weapon is a large bone wrapped in bandages and animal sinew to provide grip and hold it together. In the smacking end of it is inserted a pinkish-purple globe. It is held in left hand and rested against shoulder when not in use.

Due to the presence of their clubs, they are the first Mudokons in the Oddworld series to be able to reliably defend itself and go on the attack. As such, Tomahawkers are an upgrade to the Scrubs and Natives found in Munch's Oddysee.

However, caution should still be taken as Tomahawkers still have the fragility of most Mudokons, making them glass cannons and vulnerable to enemies with range weapons such as Slig Poppers and Vyyker Shot Docs. Later in the game, Tomahawkers could be upgraded/transformed into the much more powerful Mudarchers.

Trivia[]

  • Tomahawkers is an obvious reference to the native American weapon of the same name. Curiously enough, actual Tomahawks are axes rather than the stone clubs that Tomahawkers use.
  • It is possible that Tomahawkers is another blatant expy of the Mudokon Native American archetype.
